SANDYBROOK NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION

INFORMATION REGARDING THE CHRISTMAS LIGHTS / DECORATING CONTEST

Cristmas lights

We would like to thank everyone who took the time to decorate their house and/or yard for Christmas.

The winners for the contest are:

1st Place - 6900 Sunflower Cir N.

2nd Place - 6954 Sandybrook Dr.

3rd Place - 6917 Sunflower Cir. S.

Congratulations to the winners. Sorry I was not able to get the quality of photos I wanted to for the web site. So I decided not to post any. I hope everyone took time to drive through the neighborhood to see the lights. Lets keep this contest in mind for next year.

We had planed to have prizes to award but due to lack of interest we decided to not have the prizes. Instead we have decided to judge all the houses in the neighborhood and pick the top three. The judging will occur between December 7 - 16 and the winners will be announced here on the web site and at our Jan meeting.
We are hoping to have a contest every year. Keep this in mind for next year. At this time the plans are for the entry fee to be the same next year as we had planed for this year.

After we discussed this at our SNA meeting on October 21, 2003 it was agreed to have a Christmas Light / Decorating Contest this year. For more information contact an officer or come to the next meeting on Nov 18, 2003. Based on last year we had many homes that were decorated and I expect that we will have the same number or more this year. I did notice we have many people that do know how to decorate their homes. This is being done as a fund raiser for the association and as our first major fun event as a neighborhood association.

The entry fee is $10.00 per house.

We will have three prizes of a percentage of entry fees:

25% for first
15% for second
10% for third
The other 50% will go to the association as a fundraiser.

For example only. If we had 10 homes enter for a total of $100 in entry fees. The pay out to the winners would be:

$25.00 for first
$15.00 for second
$10.00 for third
$50.00 for the SNA The more people that entry the higher the amounts will be.

We would like to have a committee of at least 3 to 9 judges. We would like to have an odd number so there is no tie in the vote, if possible. To be a judge you can not enter the contest.

The current plans are to have a week for the judges to view the houses and make their decisions. We still need to decide on how the judging is going to occur, ie having a point system in different categories and the categories. If you have an experience in doing something like this, we ask you to help, but keep in mind no experience is required. We currently plan to have the judging to occur between December 7 - 14 and announce the winners at the meeting on Dec. 16th. The winners will be posted on this page and in the Jan newsletter. We may have some categories of honorable mentions. I would like to be able to put photos of at least the winners on this site, if not all the entries.
