Greater Meadowbrook Mineral Leasing Update 02/28/08

It has been several weeks since you have had an update on the task you elected your representatives
to perform in your best interest. Since our last update we have been extremely busy. In addition
to all the routine things the Task Force members have to attend to in their daily lives. Rita Vinson,
Don Boren, Harvey Roberts, Jerry Webb and I, have been busy completing a lease favorable to our
community. Initially we contacted 49 drilling companies and have been meeting with respondents.
The Task Force is currently meeting with three (3) producers that are very active in the Barnett
Shale, and all three have the ability to produce gas from under the participating neighborhoods
of Brentwood Oak Hills, Eastern Hills, Central Meadowbrook, West Meadowbrook and beyond. We have
had an initial meeting with all three producers and at least one follow up meeting with two of
them to discuss lease details such as drilling locations, primary lease term .....and yes,
signing bonuses and royalties. We have a great working relationship with all three companies,
and thankfully we are not negotiating with land men between us and the actual driller/producer.
Regardless of what you may have heard or been told by companies who do nothing more than
collect leases to resell to producers/drillers, (Dale & Paloma) we are well beyond anything
being offered to our citizens to date. It has been a huge challenge just to keep up with the
rumor, innuendo and downright lying by land men trying to get your signature on a lease before
we can complete our negotiations, and that will only get worse as we get down to the final
decision. However, even under these unusual circumstances you have held together and you are
to be commended for your faith in us and your cooperation with each other.
Finally, I wish that I could tell you exactly where we are in the negotiations and
with whom. BUT, I'm also sure that you would not want me to do anything that could/would
jeopardize our efforts when we are so close to finalizing or work. Please understand that
we are within weeks of finishing, not months.....and the news is VERY positive!
